About Us
Kam I.T. was started by Jim Akeson in August of 2021. He started the company after 28 years in the IT Sector, working on infrastructure as small as a single user in an office to being responsible for all North American IT operations at Canada’s largest ABM company.
As a result of this experience, Jim realised a few things that needed to be fixed in the IT industry and set out to build a company that took support to the next level, while providing an enjoyable working environment for his staff.
Kam I.T. Embraces a Variety of Simple Philosophies in Order to Build a Different Kind of MSP:
- We value collaboration over competition. There is more than enough work for all IT companies. Rather than competing with other companies, we collaborate with them to provide you with a higher level of service.
- We believe in improved IT accessibility. With Static Billing, you pay the same price every month, regardless of how often you use our service. The only time the price will change, is if there is a consistent increase or decrease in the amount of use. You never need to choose between your finances and your tech support. (Regular hourly billing remains available if that suits your needs better)
- Your freedom is important to us, and you should never be held hostage by your IT contract. With Kam I.T., you are welcome to end the service at any time. If you continue as a client, it is because you are happy with the service you are receiving.
- We acknowledge that your data is your own. ALL of it, such as Kam I.T. “Internal documentation” and the Site binder. We give you full and complete access to all documentation related to your company without the need to go through us.
- We believe in staying local. We source all our services and hardware locally whenever possible, and our cloud storage is kept within Canada.
At Kam I.T., all our staff share a passion for technology and knowledge and have the drive to improve the things that we see, use and create. We believe in the value of life-long learning and incorporate this into our business.
To embrace these ideas and encourage our staff to continuously grow, we regularly meet for tech education nights. One of us shares knowledge of our specialty, or we bring in a guest speaker to learn something new. These educational nights have resulted in the most unique and powerful tools that our clients currently enjoy the benefits from.
We are a creative group, and we certainly don’t deny that we also like to have fun. We enjoy combining technology with our other hobbies, which is evident in our projects: 3D printed custom mounting brackets for hard drives, pen holders for the receptionists of clients, large robots that are used to educate kids about robotics and electronics and the custom glasswork that decorates our offices. We support local groups, including the Kamloops Maker Space and other Canadian organisations, such as the Girls in Code project. Building, creating and learning is our passion and is shown in every aspect of what we do.
